I have a series of wall hangings that use a dinner napkin for the "tablecloth". You could size it down to use the hankies. You cut the napkin on the diagonal and sew it between the wall paper and the table fabrics and then when you put the borders on you have to be careful so it doesn't get caught in the seam on the bottom edge.
