For those who have been so complimentary of my piecing, here's an "O crud!" Even with paper piecing here's the outcome. And the re-make is off in the center, but I'll live with it! Pressing seams open really helped.
First is F1 which turned out fine and then F2
BTW on the F1 I trimmed off the seam allowance on obe side of the center octagon prior to appliqueing it! But with a little fray check along the raw edge it appliqued just fine! Phew!
