I will give it a go, then. I didn't want to waste my time and money on trying it first lol! I get frustrated so easily these days

Yep, it absolutely works.
You couldn't pay me to do hand basting. Ever. ;-)
If you can't work on the floor, or don't have access to a table surface big enough to lay the quilt out, you can most definitely use the board method in conjunction with spray basting.
I would suggest if you're doing the board method on a really large quilt, you have someone hanging around just to help turn the boards. It will go much more smoothly.
