Don't ya just hate those paper specks! A trick someone taught me is to lightly mist the paper with water from a fine spray bottle, let it set a minute and then the paper comes off with no problem. I use this method with applique blocks and mist them then put in a zip lock baggie and let them rest for a few minutes. But I don't see why it would not work without the baggie as well!
