Default Grandmother's Legacy

This is a quilt I made honoring my mother, now that I am also a grandmother. My 87 years young mother still makes baby clothes by hand for friends, relatives and acquaintances. (You can see her sewing area in one of the pictures.) She has dressed hundreds of babies in her lifetime. I wanted to make a throw for her that would be in colors that she uses for the clothes. This is what I came up with: Grandmother's flower garden centers that I hand appliqued to the green, then sewed together the squares for the center of the quilt. Then I had to figure out how to make the border wrap around the corners - half a log cabin did the trick. I think she was impressed that I would take the time to do something for her. She deserves this and yes, she liked it. I used a Pentel gel pen for the label and embroidered flowers and leaves in the rayon thread that she uses for her baby clothes.
