I used to do this but caught hell from hubby this spring. Some the longer scraps put out for the birds got caught up in the lawn mower he claims. I find it hard to believe anything that could cut off a digit would be compromised by a strip of fabric. To keep peace in the household, I have refrained.

I have seen some of all sizes sewn together and cut into blocks. I put any small scraps I can not use out for the birds to build their nest.
