I stitch BESIDE contact paper and THROUGH Glad press & seal. I do simple shapes like hearts and stars with the contact paper. The press & seal you can use to mark a design on it and stitch through it but in tight designs it can be a little hard to remove. I sometimes use tweezers to get the little pieces out of the stitching.
