I also have the PE770. I use the Threadart and have no problem, I also have Coats and Clark and Threadelight. (variegated). I set all my spools on a separate stand and feed it from the side. Don't know, if that makes a difference, but it can't hurt. Don't give up, try again, tell your machine that you are the boss!
