Yes, you chek the packaging for the quilting requirements. The old cotton batting was not very stable that's why it was densely quilted. My Hobbs 80/20 fusible says up to 4 inches apart for the quilting. Some others batts say upwards to 10 inches. It really depends on the batt. Do you know what brand of cotton batt you have?
The batting is warm and natural, bought it by the yard but no longer have the paper with info on it.
