Honestly, I mock mine up in powerpoint to see roughly how they'll look. You could also use colored pencils and graph paper. Make one row 2 squares by 2 squares, then the next 2 by 1. Or you could start bigger and have more variety. I gave instructions for this one earlier in the posts. There are only two types of rows, so this one was simple to put together
