Hey you both might like to try this stitch Anael has done instead of SID. I use it all the time, but a little closer together on my smaller quilts. This is a serpentine stitch, also called 3 point zigzag set at a width and length of 2 on my Bernina.

I also use this stitch whenever I can. I used it mostly on bags since I use fusible fleece as the batting and it works great.
