My dad took a block of wood and sanded it smooth (no rough edges) then used the old fashioned wire hamgers to make mine. You can have a clamp screwed on it to attach it to your machine table that you are using at the time if you don't want to change them all the time just make one for each machine. You can make them as long as you want. Dad bent the wire hanger so that the thread went through the loop, but I took the cover from cattle syringes that we never used and cut the tip off and stuck it in the loop & my thread stays there better. You will need to use the heaviest wire hanger you can find so it stands in the hole and doesn't bend. Amy
