I have a friend that her mother taught her girls the gift of quilting and they quilted together for many years. The mother is now in failing health and the daughters are making a small quilt that will be place inside the casket on the lid--the part that is left open for a viewing. They have cleared this with the funeral director and were given the measurements that this piece should be. So when the casket is shut the small quilt will cover her as she is laid to rest. I think it is a wonderful idea.
