KSCrafter, what a timely post you have. I am the post originator and have been preparing my fabrics to begin my Ohmigosh quilt but was going to post a new one to ask for some tips as well. I did prepare quite a while back a sample of both the 9 patch and shoo fly blocks to see how they will come together. I pressed the tiny 9 blocks with the seams towards the dark (non-background) fabric so the seams for the 3 rows would nest together. That works fine. I got the seams for the 9 patch block to work well. It is the shoofly block that is a little tricky. I will post photos later tonight if my daughter can load them for me.
