There are programs for installing so that you can see images of the designs. You might want to look into sewIcons at SandsComputing,

http://redmugs.com/html/viewer/download/index.php is a free download that shows .pes images. You need to install one in your computer, look at your designs on the CD, or move them to the folder where you save designs and you will be able to see the images there. Unless, of course, you have PE Design Basic or other embroidery software. In which case, the images will show when you open 'that' program. I hope this gets you started.
