I have made about 10 biscuit quilts and believe me, you don;t want to fill them up very much. They get very hard to sew together and sew the rows together. I think my squares were 4 1/2" top square and 3 1/2" bottom square. They look gorgeous stuffed ful but are not usable for anything but to look at. Most homes are too warm now days to need them for warmth. My book said to use polyester fiberfil. They are still heavy.
