I would spray baste lightly using 505, pin just the edges every foot so the edges don't come apart, and use a hoop.

Would add that the batting makes a *huge* difference in how easy (or not) hand quilting is. I would not use a batting that has scrim, such as Warm and Natural, because of the extra resistance. Hobbs 80/20 or Quilter's Dream Request would be good batting choices.
