Smile Hi - I'm new to the board and to quilting

Hi there. Thought I'd take a minute to introduce myself. I'm new to this board and new to quilting (although I've sewn for many years) as well....I just ventured into the world this summer by making two 12" blocks I could use for table decorations for the month of July (they were red and white and I put blue and white ceramic pieces on them.) I quilted them with by stitching in the ditch. My second project was a 48" Christmas tree skirt (Star Wars) I made for my niece's husband who has a Star Wars tree. Every other "wedge" is appliqued. I did stitch in the ditch between segment and on the segments with no applique, I quilted around each wedge, following the outline of the wedge and moving in about two inches each time. On the ones with appliques, I simply went around the outline of the applique. My next project is another Christmas tree skirt. Just thought I'd say hi and I'm looking forward to learning!
