While at the good will store or garage sales, check out the denium jumpers or denium skirts,which yield a lot of fabric, and much lighter in weight, especailly when snipping front seams on a "rag quilt".
I use lots of the jumpers too. They tend to be really cheap here ($1 or 2) and the ones with a gathered skirt have lots of fabric. I really like to use them for the back of rag quilts.
