ODE TO THE SECRET SANTA SWAP
Twas the night before swapping,
And quilters on board,
Waiting and squiriming,
To see what they scored.

All the decorations are hung,
All the board gifts been sent,
Each one is pleased with the
Quilty money they spent.

For in quilting it seems is one common thread,
To bring happiness to all,
With all the blues, greens and reds.

The boarders all, how they have danced in their stash,
They thought, I've got gifts here, don't need lots of cash.

They fingered the stripes, the plaids, and the paisleys,
Then they got busy, didn't want to be lazy.

They eyed oranges and yellows,
Oh what to do,
Wow, I'd almost forgotten this magnificient blue.

Is it purple for Daisy,
and polka dots for May?
I just can't decide...what does the stash say?

I'll go shopping and drooling, - what a great reason,
I have to spread cheer this holiday season.

While the seasons tunes play, the fabrics how pretty,
It's going to be a great quilty day, here in the city.

Shall I buy this, or no, maybe that?
For a runner, a doll, a seasonal mat?

So many choices, oh what fun, oh what glee,
Oh, I just have to have some of this one for me!

Oh, I have this cream at home,
And this greens on the way,
Oh I love to shop for quilters this way!

The commercial shoppers all pushed and shoved,
For the factory toys, no balls, bats or gloves,
But the smart quilter was all calm and serene,
For things yet unmade, and yet to be seen.

I've got all my bargains, I'm ready to go,
Got my keys, there's my car,
Wow, it's starting to snow!

Rushing home, still dreaming of quilty creations,
Singing all the old songs, and filled with elation.

They rushed to their corners, and thought with a smile,
I haven't had fun like this in a while.

Many love the gifts that I've given,
But to give to a quilter, now that's really living.
Who understands the craft but another,
Great quilting board, sister or brother?

Tomorrow's the day, oh the box is a calling,
No more waiting and wondering, hey, no more stalling!
But right now it's time to turn out the lights,
Happy quilt gifts to all, and to all a goodnight
