If this guild isn't a good fit for you, then you should look for another guild, and hopefully one that isn't so far away. A larger guild is more likely to have paid speakers and classes. Smaller guilds have trouble finding speakers and organizing events, unless someone really steps up as program chairman, and even then they may not have the finances to do it.
I disagree, when you join a guild, you need and should get involved and not sit in the corner expecting "someone" to do "something". Leaving a guid without your participation does not solve the problem. probably the same old members do all of the work. Sounds like this guild could use a planning committee with new ideas to present each month. We plan our events for the year in a casual planning meeting in January. Anyone is welcome to attend and contribute.
