Red face Pond Scene Baby Quilt for my new Niece!

Finished this baby quilt in March for my niece, thought I'd share it with all of you. I made it before I bought my sewing machine, so every last stitch is hand-done. I didn't quilt it, just tied it every 4" or so. I designed the scene all by myself, made the patterns, and everything except the sky, grass, and pond is appliqued with a hidden stitch. I added batting underneath the animals to make them puff out. The back is a super soft blanket flannel from Joann's, but I forget the name of it (not shown). The animals have little felt eyes and mouths, and the dragonfly's wings are organza (and I embroidered her legs on!). I lost count of number of fabrics...i think it's around 20. The lighting in this photo makes it look all washed out, but it's much more colorful in person. And it's very square (my SIL is holding the blanket over the baby that's still incubating in this photo), not like it looks in the picture. I was really proud of it! It's got a double layer of batting for extra weight and warmth in these cold upstate NY winters
