The problem is that when I pull the binding to the back of the quilt to hand stitch it, I HAVEN'T SEWN THE BINDING STRIPS COMPLETELY TO THE QUILT!!
Are you using a walking foot and quilting needle when you sew the binding to the front? I noticed when I was working on a tote for my sister that my machine was skipping as many as 10 stitches at a time. I switched to a demin needle (this was really thick) and the problem stopped.
