If you plan to quilt don't use batting and backing. You need to use fleece. Its softer and will be more gentler on their skin. I know because I make lap quilts for hospice i volunteer at and also universary hospital for dying patients. Fleece makes them softer but still warm. you're doing a wonerful thing be proud
