Default My latest - a gift from a city to a tribe

This last May our guild was asked to help with a gift. The mayor from the city of Pousbo, WA asked if we could create a gift from the city to the Suquamish Tribe to commemorate the opening of their new museum. No one wanted to take on the project, especially with a September deadline. But I took on the challenge and completed it in 2 1/2 months.

After meeting with the mayor, I proposed the title "We Are Connected." Poulsbo has a huge nordic heritage within the city. The Suquamish Tribe is just a few miles from Poulsbo. Although they are cuttures from opposite sides of the globe, they are connected not only by land but by similar images.

With help from a few guild members I created an art quilt that will hang in their newly opened museum. The quilt was given to the Suquamish Tribe on Friday at the dedication ceremony, and they were truly impressed.
