I've never had any bobbin hook issues and really haven't heard that this was a problem on the lists I'm on. Most people seem to have sensor problems, upper threading parts breaking and needle going out of alignment. I wouldn't worry about an 830's bobbin. It's great. It's the rest of the machine that needs help, IMO. LOL.
