My friend helped another friend clean out her mother's garage, found a 1930's wedding ring quilt, neatly folded, with what she thought was a mouse "stain" all the way through. She's not a quilter, and neither is her friend, so she sent it to me. I soaked it and changed the water for a week, then repaired it where necessary, quilted it for her and sent it back. She was delighted, even though she had meant it to be a gift for me. I took a picture of it, lettuce green squares even!
