I agree. If I remember correctly, the guy at Superior Threads (Bob?) says you only have to change the needle when the "kerthunking" gets on your nerves
. That's what I do, I change it if it's bent or too loud and I haven't had a problem in all the years I've been sewing. I do however regularly clean and oil my machines.
