I haven't used Aqua Net, but done quilts with hairspray before and it does not gumup the needle.
Also I cannot go on the floor but spray baste quilts on my queen size bed. Strip the bed and put
an old sheet on to protect the matress. Keep the old sheet for just this purpose.
