I, too, would like to see you try this effect. I think the fade from dark to light, then a dark border or even dark flange, then your lighter print border and dark binding would pull this together. I know it would be a bit of work to rearrange everything once again, but I think you owe it to yourself (IMHO)to at least look at this possibility since it is so different from the other arrangements you have tried.
