I see the definitions this way...I am vintage, my grandmother was old fashioned.
Using 1030's fabrics is a very big risk unless you know exactly what they like, imo. Same with any type of scrappy quilt pattern. I would definitely find out more details directly from them, and not rely on what we say here given the average age of the membership.
