I had to really know-- I marked 1/4 of a crib quilt with a regular lead pencil, 1/4 with a graphite drawing pencil, I then repeated this on remainder of quilt, but first sprayed with starch. I proceeded to free motion quilt,(what fun!,) then, when finished I washed my quilt in cool water with Tide with Downy. Lo and behold, all markings washed out completely! Ya Hoo!
