Whatever you do, do NOT cut that beautiful cabinet. I did that when I was young and I threw away the head too. Now that I am older and wiser, of course, I regret cutting up the cabinet to fit another Singer machine into. I still have the treadle cabinet, but it's in sad state. I have gotten two more 'old' cabinets, but none as pretty as the treadle once was.
