'Referring" to the post number is unnecessary if you link directly to it.

Click on the post # in any post (on right side of the dark tan band at the top of the post, same as the time/date stamp), the URL will change (in the address bar) to be a direct link to THAT particular post.

And THAT's the URL that should be copied and pasted when supplying a link, not the general thread one, to lead directly to the specific post, regardless of how many posts per page in each member's setting.

This way you can supply a clickable link to the 3,482th post on page 89 in a thread - way more helpful.
It does sometimes take a moment or two for the "board" to get you there, but it will put that post at the top of the page...and you still have access to everything before and after if needed.
