Hello Startella, Even if you're not going to buy it, ring them up and ask them how they come up with the date 1896, and are they basing the price in part on its age. At that time a 28K would have the bobbin winder set at the base of the pillar, so I've looked at the photo. The serial number starts with a Y and is followed by a seven digit number starting with a 4. This means it was manufactured in 1926 or 1927. If it isn't 100 years old it isn't antique. You can have fun with these sellers, suggesting they might like to withdraw the advert, it's a misrepresentation on their part. Otherwise you can suggest they halve the price.
