Since you will be footing the bill, can you make a lap quilt maybe "controlled scrappy". That way you can use your stash--translation, low cost. I know, you paid good money, but if you are like me it becomes almost free after it sits in you stash for awhile. Another thing you could do is watch for the sales and load up on fabric.
