I'm currently designing some masks with fusible vinyl. I'm also thinking about making some really interesting tote bags. One cool thing I do is instead of using pieces of fabric is take a piece of lamé (metallic or iridescent), about 1/8 yd or so and shred it (remove the white warp threads) and fuse the shiny threads between two pieces of the vinyl. It looks like metallic spaghetti floating inside clear plastic.
The iridescent threads switch colors depending on how you look at them, so that's fun to use.
