irish. i have started grilling my cut up okra on the george forman with a little salt and pepper. gets it a little brown, but without the flour and oil to coat or cook it. i also boil it whole, in just enough water to cover it, until just tender. sort of a little more than el'dente. WW considered it a 'free' veg years ago. not sure about the up to date food list. and i have to say, my husband cringes as i eat it. but he is a true michiganer. my dad was military, so we lived all over, but quite a few years in the south.
