Yes you will definitely need a clear coat. The automotive paint when used properly will give the smooth glassy finish without seeing streaks, bubbles, or imperfections in the paint coverage. It is also much more durable so you can use the machine without damaging the paint like you would if you just spray painted it. There's also the prep work involved in getting it ready for paint.
