Looking at the photos, this is what I was try to explain. Except Henry sewed the block. batting and backing with a 1/4 inch seam. I do just the Block..I have the backing material ,lets say 2 inches larger them the quilt top.
After you have quilted the block, (do not quilt right to the outer edge), Place the two block or rows, right side together, folding back the batting and backing. SEW the 2 block piece together with a 1/4 inch. Finger press to one side. ( you will not have any bulk if you finger press it good.). Then trim to have you batting meet together over the seam line, now... take the one piece of backing trim, so it is sitting just a ,, lets say 1/8 inch over the seam line. holding it nice and flat. then take the other attached backing , folding that piece under a quarter of an inch, and lap it over the seam. You can iron press this nice and smooth, then hand sew it. . There are site on the Internet that show you step by step. I will try to find the link and send it to you. Toni, once you do it, you will find it very easy. I do this with all my quilts, but do it row by row, instead of block b block. Good luck
