Yes, the Standard is a wonderful machine! Mine stitches beautifully!
Having the hand wheel rotate forward(towards you) or backwards (away from you) is nothing to be afraid of when treadling or using these vintage machines. Once you remember which direction the wheel turns, you will be able to sew without difficulty. It's like remembering which way to thread the machine needle to make proper stitching.
The Standard Rotary is a quieter machine than a shuttle machine. With this machine, one can chain stitch with it as long as you have the chain stitch attachment called a spider.
I misread your post this morning. I see that you have attachments which means you own the machine.
Please post a photo of the attachments. Maybe, I will be able to identify some of them, like the spider.
Your machine is very pretty and cabinet is gorgeous too!
