Default Every Good and Perfect Gift, #5 (fifth and final!)

We started making our graduating high-school Seniors quilts to commemorate moving on to the next phase of their life. For 2012 our theme was “Every Good and Perfect Gift” the graduate being the good and perfect gift, not the quilt (grin). This is the fifth and final quilt for 2012.

Bonnie’s quilt is the ‘Red Flower Power Quilt’ pattern by Kaffe Fassett in the book “Quilt Romance”. (I have a fascination with Kaffe Fassett’s quilts. Its a phase I’m going through.)

Since the quilt has 6 columns and 8 rows, we personalized 4 squares in the fifth column – dove, church logo, high school, and a quill with ink well to symbolize writing and communication (one of Bonnie’s interests).

I loved packing the quilt fabric with symbolism – red roses and red tulips for a flower garden, the black window pane fabric has stars and the green and lavender stripe is printed with ‘twinkle, twinkle little star’ for a good night’s sleep, the red ‘stripey tiger’ fabric is for being fierce and strong, 4 vases of arranged flowers represents previous generations (Bonnie was named for her grandmother and her mother is an interior designer), and some 1970’s flower power-type fabrics, ‘cause well, why not?

Thanks for looking!
