Default Cornucopia

“Cornucopia” was a gift to my nephew, Ron. The fabrics and design are meant to evoke the Cornucopia or Horn of Plenty – “a symbol of abundance and nourishment … overflowing with produce, flowers, nuts, other edibles, or wealth in some form.” (Wikipedia) The quilt was designed to look like a basket filled with fruits and vegetables and I tried to suggest shadow and light as you look from left to right. The quilt turned out a bit smaller than I planned (only 60” wide) but don’t we always want more?

My friend Cynthia did the binding and binding design. I was out, out, out of fabric for quilt binding (don’t we always want more?) so the binding is pieced – black in the corners and light brown along the sides. Very slick. Very custom – a perfect solution with, of course, a perfect application. I loved it!

Long arm quilting was done by Patched Works in Elm Grove, WI. The fabric was not pre-washed so the quilt would crinkle and scrunch after washing.

Thank you for looking!
