I refurbish vintage sewing machines. One of the products that is highly recommended by "vintage" Singer repairmen to both clean and polish old machines is ProtectAll. ProtectAll not only gives a shine but also "creates a super slick, anti-static finish" (quote from product label). This stuff works -fabric just slides around on the old machine beds and the machine head glistens. I've even used it on a fiberglass shower stall that was getting hard to clean from hard water build-up. It comes in a spray bottle and was located in the RV supply section of WalMart.
