Default Firming up floppy fabrics

I just read an article from Threads magazine on an alternative to starching fabrics to make them easier to handle. It advises using gelatin, the old fashioned kind we used to use to try to grow fantastic fingernails (never worked for me!). Dissolve 1 teaspoon of gelatin in 16 ounces of water for 30 minutes. Then boil a quart of water and mix the gelatin mixture into it. Soak your floppy fabric in it, then remove it from the solution and roll the fabric piece in a towel, then allow to dry flat. The gelatin will wash right out in the laundry later.
