Default Is there a vintage applique "little Gnome Girl" block

A friend was given a box of vintage quilt tops all hand pieced. In the box were 20 blocks of what looked to me to be a Gnome style little girl-in the Sunbonnet Sue style. These were adorable, instead of the bonnet, she had a small cap pointed on top like a gnome. She had longer legs than sue, with slippers as shoes. Her skirt had a windblown effect. There were embroidered little daisys that she was picking and a long sash blowing. The hand work was amazing, she had used a blanket stitch around the girl. Her cap and bloomers were the solid "kona type" colors of the period and each dress was a different feedsack/Aunt Grace(?) print.
Way back in my memory, I think I have seen something along this line. There was no fusible to adhere the blocks, but they were starched.

Our question-how would you recommend quilting these once assembled. We discussed just adding sashing between the blocks, does any one have ideas how to complete.
I will try to get pics but maybe next week.

Thanks, Jill
