Update-I finished the bag last night-late! I ended up using a rectangle the size of the bottom of very stiff Peltex which I was able to pierce through for the prongs of the feet. I Put that between the lining and the bag. It worked just fine, the feet anchoring it to the bottom, and I just put the stiff bottom back in on top of the lining like usual. I am so happy nothing went wrong! I will attempt to post a photo, just can't remember how since I have been off the board for several months ( getting purses made!). Thanks for all your suggestions!
