Yes, of course that is the way to do it. However, mine became completely unthreaded. And I gave up in disgust trying to follow the threading path. Usually I can figure anything out but not this paperweight!
same thing happened to me, after trying for days, I had to give in and load the "thing" into the car and drive to the JoAnn's-when they sold viking.....and have the person there do it...it took her all of two minutes max.............now the "thing" sits on an extra table with a cover over it...........big useless investment....now I undertand they are self threading..........
