Default My cutting table & quilt shelf/design wall

I've been waiting to post these pics when my sewing room was cleaned and organized. Needless to say that hasn't happened yet.

The cutting table is made from two 24x60 unfinished base cabinets. We joined them back-to-back and made drawers for the false fronts. We made two drawers in each of the centers. Every drawer had to measured and built exact because the cabinets though the same, didn't measure the same. The top and sides were finished with Birch plywood and trimmed out with 1x2 birch wood. The cabinet has white pickled stain with a satin varnish. The cabinet is supported with eight 4" round bun feet (felt bottomed) so I can move it if needed. The overall finished cabinet is 48x60 and 37" tall (I'm 5'8" so it's the perfect height for me).

The quilt shelf is made from 1"x8" by 8 ft. long Birch wood. Trimmed out with wood molding. The rod is a wooden curtain rod and can be removed to add the felt design wall. The shelf is level (camera operator error) just doesn't look like it. The shelf is also white pickled stain with satin varnish.

We made these in August when it was so hot you couldn't breathe so it took us a lot longer than it should. Not that we will be making any more.
