I have an older Pfaff and a Bernina 820...I take the Pfaff to class and am always (LOL) "surprised" when I have to put the pressure foot down manually;-) I love them both and wouldn't give either of them up!
I have a Pfaff 60 treadle and Pfaff 1222E, both such wonderful machines. The newer(35 yrs vs 57 yrs) is the machine I use when I want to sew flannel quilts, its too heavy to take to classes or quilt sew-ins. I'm surprised when I have to put the foot down manually too. The Sapphire I don't have to.
